Max Wencelides explores socio-aesthetic and socio-political topics in his site-specific interventions and performances. He was born in Munich in 1992 and studied sculpture with Prof. Olaf Metzel and painting with Prof. Daniel Richter at the Academies of Fine Arts in Munich and Vienna from 2012 to 2019. With the collective Worldings, he organizes group exhibitions on the theme of coexistence. He is a member of the Polizeiklasse München and the Klasse für Dynamisch akustische Forschung. His work has been shown in Germany and abroad (e.g. Haus der Kunst, Munich, 2013; Fotografia Europea, Reggio Emilia, 2014; Semper Depot, Vienna, 2017; Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin, 2022), has been awarded prizes/scholarships (e.g. Bayerischer Kunstförderpreis 2023, Stiftung Kunstfonds, Musikfonds) and is represented in private collections.
